Lancaster County man pleads guilty to killing wife, sister-in-law and injuring his son in 2025 shooting

LANCASTER, Pa. — A Lancaster County man will serve two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole followed by 20 to 40 years in state prison after pleading guilty to shooting his estranged wife and her sister to death and seriously injuring his son during a violent encounter last October, District Attorney Heather Adams said Friday.

Santiago Payano-Sanchez, 64, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of criminal homicide and one count each of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and possessing an instrument of crime. He was sentenced immediately by Lancaster County Judge Jeffrey Conrad, Adams said.
