WATCH | Organizers topple melted ice sculptures at Lititz Fire & Ice Festival

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Visitors strolling by the duck pond at Lititz Springs Park during the Lititz Fire & Ice Festival may have expected to see towering ice sculptures, but some of the display had to be torn down as temperatures and wind took a toll.

Sam Thrush, the executive director at Venture Lititz who organizes Fire & Ice, said the weather was to blame for the sculptures deteriorating.

“Because of the wind, because of the warmth, because of the sun, the seams of those ice blocks, they start to loosen,” Thrush said.

Organizers said the melting ice wasn’t just an aesthetic issue but a safety concern…
