Gas prices see biggest one-day spike in over 20 years as conflict with Iran grows

PENNSYLVANIA (WJAC) — Drivers across the country saw gas prices surge in a single day as tensions between the United States and Iran continued to grow.

In Cambria and Somerset counties, prices were also up. A check of Sheetz locations in Johnstown, Richland, Somerset and Ebensburg found the same price at all six locations of about $3.60 per gallon. Other stations in those areas were selling gas for about $3.40 to $3.50 a gallon, still higher than just a few days ago.

GasBuddy is reporting that the statewide average in Pennsylvania was about $3.24 a gallon. GasBuddy also says the average price in PA was around $3 at the beginning of the year, and a check a few weeks ago had the Pennsylvania average about 15 cents cheaper than right now…
