Lancaster County borough modifies cooperation deal with ICE amid pushback

Two months after giving their police chief the go-ahead to enter into a cooperation agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Mount Joy Borough Council voted Monday night to add conditions to that directive.

Before a packed crowd of borough residents and observers, the council voted 6-3 to direct police Chief Robert Goshen to seek a modification to the ICE agreement to clarify that borough police would not make any immigration-related arrests without a warrant signed by a judge.
