YORK COUNTY, Pa. — The York County Sheriff’s Office honored Lt. David Godfrey during a staff meeting last week.
The office said on Facebook that Deputy William Banks (SgtMaj, USMC Retired) presented Godfrey, a Marine Corps Veteran, with personally signed and addressed photographs from both the Commandant of the Marine Corps and the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.
These men are the seniormost and highest-ranking officials in the Marine Corps, and they expressed their gratitude for Godfrey’s service and extended wishes for a full recovery after he was wounded in an ambush that killed three Northern York County Regional Police Officers and wounded another officer in September 2025…
