Lancaster East End plan nears completion, public input encouraged

LANCASTER, Pa. — Lancaster city leaders say a major redevelopment plan for the area surrounding the Lancaster County Prison is nearing completion, and they’re asking the public to weigh in before it’s finalized.

The East End Area Plan comes after more than a year of community meetings, feedback sessions and design revisions. The proposal reimagines the current prison site as a mixed-use development once the facility is decommissioned.

City planners say the vision includes retail and commercial space along King Street, with apartments above, while Orange Street would feature residential housing designed to match the surrounding neighborhood…
