Midstate alpacas postpone labor for warmer weather

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — While it’s typically the time of the year for alpacas to birth their babies, some mommas are holding off due to the weather.

“Alpacas when they’re giving birth, it’s only in the daylight hours. From the crack of dawn till nightfall, we never in the last 24 years had one at nighttime,” said Kevin Zurin, co-owner of the Eastland Alpacas farm. “So, in the springtime, it seems like they hold on to them. It’s not like women where you don’t have a choice. They do.”
