Capital City Comic Con celebrates 10 years in Lansing

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Capital City Comic Con is back in Lansing for the tenth year. Starting up at three in the afternoon today at the Lansing Center. The event made its debut in 2015, drawing thousands of fans and cosplayers to the Lansing area. Comic Cons have spread across the country – and this year, Capital City Comic Con’s unofficial theme is Star Trek in homage to the 60th anniversary.

The event lasts three days and features panels and an exhibit hall that will have hundreds of booths. Visitors will also get the chance to meet with special guests, including Elizabeth Dennehy and Tawny Newsome from Star Trek, as well as Tony Moran from Halloween. Tim Hunt, one of the co-owners of this comic con, told 6 News that last year, there were more than eight thousand attendees. Those numbers are expected to be high again, as it draws in people from Mid-Michigan and around the country.

“We’re getting people coming from probably a dozen different states or more. We have vendors and artists, and guests that come from all over the country to participate. So yeah, it’s just continually growing,” said Hunt. “The support we’ve been getting from the community has been exponential the past couple of years.”…
