Clinton County sheriff calls for investigation into prosecutor after special prosecutor declines to charge him in stolen gun case

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Clinton County Sheriff Sean Dush called Saturday for the Michigan State Bar to investigate the county’s elected prosecutor, a day after a special prosecutor declined to charge Dush over a service pistol registered to him that Lansing police recovered from a minor in May.

Dush, appearing at attorney Mike Nichols’ law office alongside St. Johns police command staff, said Clinton County Prosecutor Tony Spagnuolo pursued him for political reasons after he was the victim of a theft.

“This is nothing more than a political witch hunt, an attack on me for political reasons. And it should have never happened,” Dush said on Saturday. “Like my attorney said, he stepped out of bounds as a prosecutor, and it’s a vindictive act to try to hurt me politically and personally, to be honest with you. And it shouldn’t happen to me or anyone else in the future.”…
