LANSING, Mich. (News 10) -More than 2,600 cases of cyclosporiasis have been confirmed in Michigan since late June, spanning 40 counties including Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Ambreen Malik, an infectious disease specialist at UM Health Sparrow, said the illness is not new but the current outbreak presents a challenge.
“It’s not new — the difference is for this current outbreak we’re not able to identify the source yet,” Malik said.
