EAST LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – he East Lansing City Council is expected to vote at any moment on two proposed high-rise developments in downtown East Lansing, following months of debate over density, parking and the future of the city’s core.
The council session began Tuesday night with a lengthy public comment period. A vote on both projects is pending.
The projects
The council is considering a 12-story mixed-use development known as “The Howard,” proposed by Harbor Bay Ventures at the former Michigan State University Bookstore site on Grand River Avenue. The project would serve nearly 750 residents with multiple-bedroom apartments and ground-floor commercial space.
The council is also weighing a 10-story development proposed by Tareen Development Partners on the Bailey Street parking lot site. That project would bring 236 units and commercial space to the location, eliminating the current 86 parking spaces there…
