LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The 11th annual Dam Jam Music Festival is returning to the Fish Ladder Music Park in Old Town tonight. It was rescheduled back in July due to the Canadian wildfire smoke. This year, they’re holding it in the newly renovated amphitheater, which was partially pushed by the festival’s previous success.
The festival is two days packed with a full Michigan lineup, spanning different music styles and genres. It is free for all to attend; you just have to register. Around the park, they will have food truck vendors and fun for all ages. 6 News spoke with Samantha Harkins, the CEO of Lansing 5:01, who helped plan the event. Harkins says that the newly renovated space is the beginning of a new era for the event, which perfectly encapsulates everything Lansing loves and cares about.
“We have a really cool and quirky community, and that really showcases this,” says Harkins. “When you come to Old Town, you come and eat at the restaurants and hopefully shop before you come over to the concert and then come over to this really unique music venue.”
The event was supposed to take place in Mid-July but was postponed due to the hazardous air quality. Harkins says that while it was a shift, it was pretty effortless, with the organizers getting everything together smoothly.
