Eaton County ‘Shelter in place’ is over, suspect in custody

UPDATE 8:58 a.m.: According to the Eaton County dispatch, the Shelter in Place order has been lifted and the man being looked for is in custody. We will update this page if new information is confirmed.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan State Police are asking people to avoid the area of Vermontville Hwy. and Bradley Rd. in Eaton County.

Eaton County dispatch confirms to 6 News a ‘Shelter in Place’ order is in effect for people living in this area. While dispatch could not confirm the address of the incident, several state police vehicles and troopers are located in front of a home at this intersection.

Police tell 6 News the man is distressed and should be considered a danger to himself and the public.

According to the Eaton County dispatch’s Facebook page, “Residents in the area of W. Vermontville Hwy near Bradley Rd in Vermontville should shelter in place while Michigan State Police search the area for a subject. Please see the attached graphic for instructions on sheltering in place. Subject is a white male possibly wearing a black coat and jeans, Call 911 if you see this subject.”
