Job fair set for next week as Ultium Cells gears up to hire workers

LANSING — A job fair is set for next week at Lansing Community College’s West Campus for the $2.6 billion Ultium Cells battery facility under construction in Delta Township.

Organizers said the event is for the community and job seekers to learn about the joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution Michigan. Ultium’s launch team will be on hand, with Capital Area Michigan Works! also present to support recruiting efforts, officials said in a news release.

“Our focus for this event is to share what a career at Ultium Cells offers to members of the Lansing community,” Grace Griffin, plant director for Ultium Cells Lansing, said in the release. “We are dedicated to creating a sustainable, all-electric transportation future, and I am excited to connect with community members who share our values of inclusion, collaboration and investing in the betterment of the places where we live and work.”

The workforce will include engineers, supervisors, information technology workers, administrators and interns, according to the release. Hirees will have “rapid advancement opportunities” as the company grows from a core launch team to operating at full capacity with 1,700 employees team by the end of 2025, it said.
