LANSING — A 19-year-old woman was rescued after driving a vehicle onto an iced-over pond Monday morning in what police described as an apparent mental health crisis.
The incident happened shortly before 9 a.m. in the 300 block of Trappers Cove Trail at Trappers Cove Apartments, in the area of Dunckel and East Jolly roads, Lansing Police Public Relations Director Jordan Gulkis said.
It was not immediately clear if the vehicle or its driver went through the ice, and no other details were available on Monday morning.
People in the area helped the woman get to safety as first responders were arriving, she said.
The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
