A rotten situation at Lansing apartment complex

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Rotting meat and vegetables. Discarded appliances and bags of trash. And the smell to accompany it all.

That’s what’s happening at BLVD Apartments on Forest Rd. And city officials were there Friday – and cited the complex for the overflowing dumpster.

Residents say it hasn’t been emptied since December.

“To just have to walk out and look at it everyday, for a month now, has been very frustrating especially because it’s such a nice complex,” resident MacKenzie Compton tells 6 News.

6 News was notified of the concerns through emails, and frustrated residents complained to the city as well. The complex has a notice for trash in 2021, according to city property records.

Despite the generally tidy upkeep of the complex, Compton says the overflowing trash is an embarrassment. It’s to the point she doesn’t invite friends over.

“I haven’t had any of my friends over in a minute,” she says. “I was like, ‘I’ll just come to your apartment.’ Just ‘cause this is not something I want all my friends to come over and see.”
