The Mason wrestling team had two individual champions and seven others finish as runner-ups while claiming the title at the CAAC Championships.
The Bulldogs finished with 228.5 points while winning the championship Saturday at Mason High School. Grand Ledge finished as the runner-up with 210 points.
AJ Martel and Derek Badgley claimed the titles for Mason. Martel was the champion in the 175 pound weight class and Badgley won at 190 pounds. The runner-ups for the Bulldogs were Jordan Evans at 106, Cecilia Williams at 113, Darius Ambs at 120, Matt Ausel at 126, Tex Smith at 144, Jadym Grimes at 150 and Gavin VanKirk at 157.
Grand Ledge had a pair of champions while finishing as the runner-up. Even Abdo won at 120 pounds and Logan Tollison captured a title at 215.
DeWitt, Fowlerville and Holt each had multiple champions. DeWitt had three individual champions in Trenden Bashore (132), Kaden Lapaugh (138) and Tyler Bashore (150). Fowlerville’s champions were Matt Jeffrey at 106 and Brock Foster at 157, while Holt had Jacob Harris claim a title at 126 and Ayden Mosher place first at 144.
