Juvenile investigated for threat message

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Springport Township Police are seeking a criminal charge against a 14-year-old after allegedly sending a threatening text message.

Police say in a Facebook post they became aware of the threat when the school resource officer for the Springport Schools was informed. The text message was sent to another student, warning that student not to come to school on Monday.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the 14-year-old’s residence. During the search of the home, the youth allegedly admitted to sending the text message. Police say they will seek a juvenile court petition, equivalent to a criminal charge in adult court, for a charge of making terroristic threats against the 14-year-old.
