The US-31 Charlevoix bridge in Gaylord, Michigan, will be intermittently closed for 15 minutes at a time between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. from February 12 to 16. These closures are part of a $6.3 million project by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to replace parts of the bridge. The exact closure times will depend on weather and work progress. No detours will be needed during these closures.
The project, which started in late October, includes work on the bridge’s railings, electrical components, joints, curbs, and gutters. The goal is to extend the bridge’s service life and maintain its reliability. The bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic intermittently for up to 12 nights during the project. The full closure schedule is yet to be determined.
The bridge will mostly have one lane open in each direction. This project is expected to support 89 jobs. The full closure schedule is yet to be determined by the MDOT.
In Lansing, Michigan, the MDOT is aligning its Complete Streets policy with its mission to connect people and communities through transportation. The public is invited to an open house to learn about the US-127/I-496 project in Ingham County.
