EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – K9 Atlas is being praised by the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) for tracking down three suspects in one night. In the beginning of February, an ELPD officer attempted to stop a stolen car that attempted to flee. The car crashed in a field and the suspects in the car fled on foot. K9 Atlas and his handler, Officer Mommersteeg, tracked the suspects. Both suspects were then found in an abandoned building less than 20 minutes later.
