Dr. Jiying Ling, an Associate Professor at the College of Nursing, has received the 2023 Honors College Award for Distinguished Contributions to Honors Students. This award is presented to a faculty or staff member outside the Honors College at Michigan State University (MSU) who has significantly contributed to Honors students’ education. The award comprises a framed certificate, a plaque in Eustace-Cole Hall, and a $1,000 cash prize.
Dr. Ling was selected for her dedication to mentoring students, especially in her Honors Research Seminar, and her commitment to her professorial assistants. The selection committee, headed by Dr. Matt Zierler, commended her strong commitment and the positive recommendations from students and colleagues. The selection process included nominations from faculty, staff, students, and involved an alumnus, a previous recipient, students, and Dr. Zierler.
Dr. Ling expressed her gratitude for the recognition of her contributions to the honors students’ growth and development. She views mentoring students as a privilege and a passion and is committed to continuing this mentorship journey.
