Duke’s Saloon has closed after nearly a decade on Michigan Avenue

LANSING — Duke’s Saloon, a Michigan Avenue bar in the Stadium District, has closed, according to a sign on the front door.

Phone messages seeking comment were not immediately returned Saturday afternoon.

Duke’s Saloon, owned by Doug Johns Jr., opened in May 2015 as a roadhouse or country-themed nightclub, then-general manager Brandon Montemayor said at the time. The bar previously had been the Harem nightclub, but was completely renovated in a country theme.

The bar was only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., according to hours listed on Yelp!.

The front door of the bar, adjacent to the Tin Can Taproom, which Johns also owns, is covered in brown paper and a paper sign simply says “closed.”

It is unclear if the nightclub has closed permanently or temporarily. A notice on its Google listing says the bar is “temporarily” closed.
