Former nurse charged in incident involving 93-year-old patient at Ingham County facility

LANSING — A former nurse at a health care facility has been criminally charged after investigators concluded she pushed an elderly resident, then put false information on a health chart.

Tessy Idusuyi, 49, of East Lansing, was arraigned Tuesday in 55th District Court in Mason on charges of fourth-degree vulnerable adult abuse and intentionally placing false information on a health chart, court records indicate.

The state Attorney General’s Office said the incident involved a 93-year-old resident in a wheelchair and happened in April 2023 at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility in Okemos.

In a news release, the AG’s office said Idusuyi, who it identified as a former licensed practical nurse, caused a fall that resulted in the elderly resident suffering head and shoulder injuries. Idusuyi reportedly denied any fall had occurred and didn’t do required neurological checks, the AG’s office said. But she later prepared an “unusual occurrence” document saying he had performed neurological tests that night, officials said.
