Here is a look at the Greater Lansing high school boys track and field Dream Team and all-area selections.
ATHLETE OF YEAR
Gavin Nurenberg
▶ School: Pewamo-Westphalia
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Nurenberg was one of the state’s throwers and helped the Pirates finish as the Division 3 team state champion. He had the top area marks in the shot put (60-5) and discus (169-3). Nurenberg was the state champion in the shot put and the runner-up in the discus. He had the state’s third-best throw in the shot put and ranked 13th in the discus.
DREAM TEAM
Tyler Baker
▶ School: Mason
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Baker was one of the area’s top individual athletes and finished fifth in the high jump at the Division 2 state finals, was third in the 110 hurdles and 12th in the 300 hurdles
Tarick Bower
▶ School: Corunna
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Bower finished third at the Division 2 state finals in the long jump and had the top area jump this spring at 23-feet. He also finished third at the state meet in the 100.
