One killed, one injured in Wheatfield Township

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– A late-night crash in Wheatfield Township near Williamston has left one woman dead and her son, the passenger, injured, says the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just after 10 p.m. Monday on Zimmer Road between the I-96 overpass and Linn Road in Ingham County.

Investigators believe the driver, a 56-year-old woman, may have suffered from a medical condition, that caused her to drive off the road and hit a tree. The passenger, a 29-year-old male, was seriously injured.

Both were transported to a local hospital, where the woman later died.

Investigators also say the driver and passenger were not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.
