Williamstown Township Community Park features mix of trails, open spaces river access

Williamstown Township Community Park, located at 507 E. Grand River Ave., is a large park featuring nature trails, athletics fields and access to the Red Cedar River.

The park, built in 1996, encompasses more the 132 acres and the northeast boundary of the park is situated on the bank of the Red Cedar River.

The space is home to groomed, natural trails that are marked for both longer and shorter treks with loops ranging from a half mile to three miles. The trails follow open areas including trips along a wildflower prairie and through wooded areas. Some paths increase in difficulty as they descend down a hillside to the bank of the river.

The park space along the river has a few open spots for fishing but don’t bring a kayak or canoe because river access is far from the parking area.

There’s plenty of natural beauty to take in with a diverse collection of plants, trees and wildflowers creating a habitat for typical Michigan wildlife including deer, squirrels, birds and pollinators.
