LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The Lansing School District held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new “Newcomer Center” opening.

The Newcomer Center is located at 301 West Jolly Road in Lansing and according to the school district, the center will be a place to help students become familiar with American culture, social norms, and customs to help with their overall adjustment to life in the United States.

“This new center is a big win because it helps so many new American families become part of the Lansing community,” said Superintendent Ben Shuldiner. “The need to educate children who are new to our country has never been greater, and we are addressing the need with this Newcomer Center.”
