Pick the LSJ high school athlete of week for Sept. 23-28

Here is a look at the individuals in the running to be voted the LSJ high school athlete of the week.

Voting is open until noon Wednesday to determine a winner, who will be featured in the LSJ.

Rachel Capriotti, East Lansing girls swim and dive

The senior has been among the area’s top performers and played a role in the Trojans staying unbeaten in the CAAC Blue with a win over Grand Ledge. Capriotti won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.79 and 100 backstroke in 1:08.17.

Lila Redder, Ionia girls golf

The sophomore was the champion at the CAAC White championships on Wednesday at Willow Wood. Redder had a round of 78 to finish as the medalist by two strokes. She also was the medalist with her round of 44 in a match against Belding on Monday.

Brandon Schomisch, St. Johns football

The senior had 33 carries for 221 yards and three touchdowns while helping the Redwings exceed their win total from last season with a 45-21 victory.
