When is early voting in Michigan? Key dates, how to register to vote for 2024 election

Statewide early voting in Michigan is fast approaching.

Early voting begins across Michigan on Oct. 26, but Detroit, East Lansing and Canton Township opted to start early voting ahead of that required date. As of Tuesday, 5,100 voters have cast ballots at early voting locations across Michigan, including 2,504 residents in Detroit, according to Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s office.

In addition, more than 1 million Michigan voters have already returned their absentee ballots .

When does early voting begin in Michigan?

Early voting in most communities across Michigan begins Saturday, Oct. 26 . Some communities have opted to begin early voting sooner.

When does early voting start in my Michigan community?

Go to michigan.gov/vote , click “Where do I go to Early Vote?” and enter the address where you’re registered to vote. A list of early voting sites and the days and hours you can vote early will appear there.

Michigan law requires at least nine days of early voting available to all voters two Saturdays before Election Day and ending the Sunday before Election Day in statewide and federal elections. That means ahead of Nov. 5 Election Day, early voting will be offered statewide starting Oct. 26 and ending Nov. 3.
