LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a 13-year-old girl died after she was transferred to a local hospital from a head-on collision crash in Delhi Township.
Deputies say the incident happened at the intersection of Holt and College Roads, just before 7 a.m. on Thursday.
Investigators say a 20-year-old Holt woman driving an SUV was traveling east on Holt Road when she turned north into the path of another SUV. A 40-year-old man from Onodaga and his three kids drove off the road and hit a utility pole.
The 40-year-old man and his three kids ages 7, 11, and 13, were transported to a local hospital for what deputies say for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say after investigators followed up with the family hours later, they learned that the 13-year-old needed emergency surgery and was listed in critical condition. She later died in the hospital, police say.
The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post the crash is still under investigation. Police say to call Sergeant Adam Jackson if anyone has any helpful information. The number is 517-676-8212.
