Billy Strings announces 2 shows at Van Andel Arena

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Fresh off his latest Grammy nomination, folk wunderkind and West Michigan native Billy Strings has announced a pair of shows at Van Andel Arena.

The award-winning musician is extending his spring tour, playing two shows in downtown Grand Rapids on May 30 and May 31.

Grammy winner returns to Muir with gift of 200 guitars

Billy Strings is the stage name of William Apostol, a Michigan native who grew up in Muir in Ionia County. Over the last decade, he has become one of the most popular bluegrass performers in the world.

He broke through into the mainstream in 2019 with his second studio album “Home.” He was nominated as the Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2020 Americana Music Awards and won Artist of the Year in 2022 and 2023.

“Home” won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2021. He has been nominated for six other Grammy Awards over the last four years. This past November, Billy Strings was nominated for Best Bluegrass Album for his first live album, “Live Vol. 1,” which was released in July.
