Firefighters respond to blaze, explosions south of Holt

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A fire at Schram Auto Parts south of Holt closed roads in the area for more than an hour Thursday afternoon.

The fire started at around 3 p.m., and was in a warehouse toward the back of the property, not the main building. That warehouse contained oil, batteries, antifreeze, and other highly flammable or explosive materials. The batteries catching fire caused several explosions, with Delhi Township’s assistant fire chief saying they were “shooting all over the place.”

One person was inside when the fire started, but immediately left when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported. The fire was out by 6 p.m.

Cedar St. was closed between Edgar Rd. and Harper Rd., and Edgar Rd. was closed between Cedar St. and Harper Rd at 2:43 p.m. However, as of 4:13 p.m., 6 News crew on the scene saw traffic moving again. Authorities are asking residents to avoid the area…
