Woman evicted after investing thousands into home

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLNS) – Landlord issues led a woman to spend thousands of her own money to fix her home. Now, she says she’s being evicted.

Overgrown landscape, pipe problems, and no front door are all things Kelly Holey said she has had to fix. Her landlord, Christian Nwobu, is currently being sued by the City of Lansing for housing code violations. Court records show Nwobu is trying to evict tenants, even those who live in some of his red-tagged properties. That’s exactly what Holey says is happening to her.

Holey said that Nwobu agreed to put the money she spent fixing up the home towards her rent, but did not honor that. Now, she says she has until the end of the month to move out, saying she doesn’t know where she’ll go next and that Nwobu should never have had someone living there in the first place…
