LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — ‘Mama,’ a cat who had been stuck up a tree near her owner’s home in Lansing since Tuesday, has been successfully retrieved from the tree, much to her owner Mark Hiar’s relief.
“I didn’t know what to do, you know? I knew it was either one way or the other, she was either gonna die in the tree or hopefully she would be able to climb down,” said Hiar. She was too scared; she had never climbed a tree before, so she didn’t know what to do.”
Hiar told 6 News that his neighbor’s dog attacked a woman walking nearby, and while it was loose, chased Mama up a large tree near his home on Howe St. Howe told 6 News that the fire department and Animal Control declined to help him. The tree companies he spoke with asked him for more than $350 to rescue his cat, a price the retired Hiar could not afford.
