MSU DPPS conducts first full-scale emergency exercise since shooting

The Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety conducted an emergency exercise today as part of a wider effort to meet the standards of the Emergency Management Accreditation Program. The event took place from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the East side of campus.

This is the first exercise of its kind conducted since the campus shooting that killed three and injured five in February 2023.

While similar events are typically done in the summer, MSU DPPS Emergency Management Division Captain Dave Oslund said the department wanted to pick a time where there would be less of an impact on students.
