Haslett Village Square redevelopment to bring jobs, housing to the community

HASLETT, Mich. (WLNS) – After almost a decade of vacancies, redevelopment for the nearly 20 acres of land known as Haslett Village Square is on the horizon.

The West Michigan-based developers plan to breathe new life into the space with more jobs, affordable housing, and commercial opportunities. Township officials say it could be a key to the area’s economic revitalization.

“We are really excited that we’re finally able to close the chapter on this blighted area,” said township supervisor Scott Hendrickson. “There’s a shortage of housing both in Meridian Township and in the Greater Lansing region.”

Hedrickson says the upcoming project will bring new affordable housing to the community.

“There will be about 200 housing units coming in, some of them being apartments and multifamily, some of them being owner-occupied townhomes, which we’re very excited about,” said Hendrickson…
