Sunny and hazy conditions continue today

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Waking up this morning, you probably noticed the hazy and smoky skies. Wildfire smoke will remain in the forecast today and is likely to continue throughout the week.

Most, if not all, of the state is under an Air Quality Advisory for wildfire smoke moving in from Canada. This will continue for the day today and possibly get extended into the day on Monday. Pollutants from the wildfires are expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups, with some locations across the state seeing the unhealthy range.

This means those with heart disease and respiratory diseases like asthma and allergies should avoid strenuous outdoor activities and take frequent breaks if needed. It is also recommended to keep windows closed during the day and even at night to prevent smoke from getting indoors.

The reason why we are seeing the wildfire smoke stay put is a strong high-pressure system. That high-pressure system will give us dry and comfortable weather for most, if not all the upcoming work week…
