City of East Lansing on list of sanctuary jurisdictions

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The United States Department of Justice released a list of states, cities, and counties that are considered sanctuary jurisdictions on Tuesday morning.

“Sanctuary policies impede law enforcement and put American citizens at risk by design,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi in a news release sent to 6 News. “The Department of Justice will continue bringing litigation against sanctuary jurisdictions and work closely with the Department of Homeland Security to eradicate these harmful policies around the country.”

The list of sanctuary jurisdiction states, cities, and counties in the U.S., according to the DOJ, are:

States:

  • Delaware
  • District of Columbia
  • Illinois
  • Minnesota
  • Nevada
  • New York
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Washington

Cities:

  • East Lansing, MI
