OKEMOS, Mich. (WILX) – Okemos Public Schools will no longer offer free meals to all students this upcoming school year, citing delays in the state’s budget as the driving factor.
Superintendent John Hood says without guaranteed state funding, the district had no choice but to revert to pre-pandemic pricing.
“We know this is a change for our families,” Hood said. “And we know that you know inflationary pressures and food is more expensive. So we decided to start with the school year, reverting back to the prices that were from three years ago.”…
