LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — This week on Crime Stoppers, law enforcement is seeking any information regarding two Lansing cold cases, one from the late 1970s and another from the late 2000s.

Karen Oatley

On August 6, 1979, Karen Oatley was found in a wooded area near what was then the Gardner Junior High School in Lansing after she was reported missing the day prior. Police say that Oatley had been strangled, and her throat slashed.

Oatley was born with severe hearing loss and was enrolled in a Lansing school program for the hearing-impaired. With the help of hearing aids and many hours of developing lip-reading skills, she was eventually integrated into regular elementary school…
