Lansing looks to install pod village for the homeless

LANSING, (Mich.) WLNS — New housing for the Lansing homeless community might be on its way. The Lansing City Council Monday night approved funding for tiny homes called ModPods to house the homeless.

The pods are coming from a non-profit in Kalamazoo, that was unable to go through with a plan to use the units there.

City Council President Ryan Kost said it doesn’t make sense to displace people from homeless camps without a plan to tackle homelessness.

“It makes no sense to displace folks from one spot to another when we didn’t have a true plan in place. We can now say we are willing to try new things,” said Kost…
