East Lansing police oversight committee looking to fill vacancy

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The City of East Lansing is looking to fill a vacancy on the East Lansing Independent Police Oversight Commission, they announced Tuesday.

The commission is made up of 11 members serving three-year terms, who work to increase the public’s trust in the police department, according to the city. The ELIPOC also works to increase community input on police department policies, practices, and procedures.

They also work to review complaints against police officers or the department in an “impartial and fair” way. According to the city the commission prioritizes addressing racial inequities in policing and use of force by officers on the job…
