Mental health advocate shares suicide attempt journey

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Thousands of Michiganders struggle with some kind of mental illness. To support those suffering in silence, the month of September is recognized as Suicide Prevention Month.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 1 in 20 American adults have serious thoughts of suicide each year, and about one person dies by suicide in the U.S. every 11 minutes.
