3 Michiganders to stand trial for identity theft, forgery of more than $500K

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Three Michiganders will stand trial on charges of identity theft and fraud of more than half a million dollars, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Friday.

Averill Dintaman, 46, and Daniel Nolan, 51, waived their preliminary examination and were bound over Friday to the 56th Circuit Court in Eaton County on multiple felony charges. The two, both of Mount Pleasant, join their third co-defendant, Dwayne Johnson, 59, of Saint Louis, who was bound over in June.

The three are accused of conspiring to steal someone’s identity and forge a fraudulent power of attorney, allowing them to obtain an unclaimed property check in the victim’s name totaling $579,551.99. Johnson is additionally accused of posing as the victim to appear in person at the Department of Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Office to obtain a second copy of the check…
