Deputies: Nine inmates hospitalized after carbon monoxide buildup at Ionia County Jail

IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) — Nine inmates at the Ionia County Jail were taken to the hospital after a carbon monoxide buildup, deputies say.

According to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, the buildup stemmed from a malfunctioning boiler, which led to inmates in a nearby unit experiencing headaches and nausea.
