Ingham County’s top lawyer, Lansing mayor reinforce Michigan’s gun safety laws

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Ingham County prosecutor says he is working to combat gun violence and prevent accidental shootings.

Monday morning, Ingham County Prosecutor John Dewane announced a new “Safe Storage of Firearms” campaign.

Dewayne says the goal is to educate community members about the importance of safely storing firearms while also encouraging compliance with Michigan’s safe storage law.

The law took effect last year and requires Michiganders to keep unattended firearms unloaded and locked with a locking device or stored in a locked box if a minor is likely to be present…
