2 hospitalized after vehicle crashes into Lansing work site

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A single-vehicle crash in a road work site in Lansing sent two people to the hospital Wednesday night, police tell 6 News.

The incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, near the Quality Dairy at the intersection of Cedar Street and E Saginaw Street. The Lansing Police Department reports officers were dispatched at around 8:19 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash where the vehicle had turned over onto its side.

Police say the car crashed into a fenced-off construction site. The vehicle was occupied by two people, a man and a woman. The woman was able to exit the vehicle on her own, but the man was pulled out by police and firefighters after they arrived on the scene. Both were taken to the hospital with what police say were non-life-threatening injuries.

6 News on the scene saw what appeared to be a heavily damaged white SUV inside a hole dug in the ground as a part of ongoing construction work in the area, a large number of firefighters, and a single police car on site. Responders did not stop traffic while working the scene.
