Police advise churches to increase security measures following shooting

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Following the mass shooting that took place on Sunday at a church in Grand Blanc, local churches are taking precautions.

When you think of a place of worship, you may associate it with joy and community, not with security and intruders. But, Detective Sergeant Randy Voloksy with Lansing Township Police says you must always be alert and prepared.

“Anybody that hurts over that, that it’s painful, I hurt with them, and the law enforcement community absolutely hurts with them. However, it is necessary,” said Volosky. “We do at times have to kind of accept the reality that we’re surrounded with and then deal with that. And we can certainly fight to change it.”…
