Clinton County gets a new nature preserve with conservancy donation

OVID, MI – A nearly 99-acre tract of land donated to the Mid-Michigan Land Conservancy is now open to the public as the Kindel Natural Area.

The undeveloped land is adjacent to Sleepy Hollow State Park in Clinton County and is available year-round from sunrise to sunset for outdoor recreation like hiking, cross-country skiing, and birdwatching.

About two-thirds of the nature preserve is a savannah-style habitat with grasslands and trees widely spaced, creating an open canopy ecosystem. The rest of the site includes woods and wetland habitats…
