LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Sunny, warm, and summer-like weather continues for the day today and even into most of the day on Monday before a cool down into more seasonable conditions returns for the work week ahead.
Lansing broke a high temperature record yesterday with the thermometer reading 89°, the previous record was set in 1951! Summer-like weather continues with plenty of sunshine today, while it won’t be a record-breaking day like it was yesterday, we will continue to have temperatures into the low to mid 80s for our Sunday. Our weather is being dominated by a strong area of high pressure to our east, and to our west, there is a cold front that is slowly making its way into the Midwest. The interaction between the high-pressure system and this cold front will cause some breezy winds today, gusting to 20 mph at times. For tonight, expect quiet and calm conditions as temperatures fall into the upper 50s to low 60s area-wide.
Heading into the upcoming work week, we see a big pattern shift, from summer back to more seasonable weather ahead. Monday starts dry and warm with temperatures once again back into the low 80s. Skies remain partly sunny with clouds increasing as the day progresses. That cold front takes its time getting to us and won’t get here until Monday night into Tuesday morning. It brings the chance for rain and even a few rumbles of thunder to the area. Now this will not make up for the deficit we are in for rain, but it will help with how dry we have been over the past few weeks…
